The form is compact, ensuring the chair sits comfortably within smaller spaces or alongside other furniture pieces.

Red Stained Oak

Please note: as each sample is crafted from natural wood, variations in colour and grain are to be expected.

Red-stained oak veneer with lacquer is constructed with a core material covered with a thin layer of oak veneer which has undergone a staining process, resulting in a red nuanced surface to alter the natural colour of the wood. Varnish is then applied to enhance and protect the appearance.

Natural Oak

Please note: as each sample is crafted from natural wood, variations in colour and grain are to be expected.

Lacquered oak veneer is a thin layer of oak wood that has been treated with a varnish for a long-lasting, easy-care finish. Displaying the same colour and distinctive grain patterns as its solid counterpart, the varnished finish enhances these natural characteristics, bringing out the depth and beauty of the wood and providing a beautiful sheen.

MEET THE DESIGNGER

Ib Kofod-Larsen

Ib Kofod-Larsen (1921-2003) was a key figure in Danish Modern design, though he remained in the shadow of icons like Wegner and Jacobsen. Much of his work was created for international markets, making him better known abroad than in Denmark. His designs were sophisticated, organic, and well-proportioned, with a purist’s attention to detail. Though he saw himself as an artisan rather than an academic, his work had a poetic, artistic quality. He was deeply involved in every step of production, blending innovation with craftsmanship. Kofod-Larsen had a keen understanding of materials, often using teak, palisander, and leather to create furniture that felt as good as it looked. His chairs, including The Penguin, The Seal, and the Elizabeth Lounge Chair, prioritized comfort and elegance, securing his legacy as one of Danish design’s most underrated yet brilliant minds.
